Billions of people organize their lives, calendars, and ethics around religious traditions that, on paper, share more structural similarities than most followers realize: founders, sacred texts, holy cities, and core practices that show up in slightly different forms across faiths. This quiz is a neutral, comparative look at twelve facts spanning Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism.

Nothing here asks which tradition is correct — just what each one teaches, where it began, and what its followers do.

Texts and Teachers

Every major tradition traces itself back to a founding figure, a foundational text, or both. Judaism centers on the Torah, Islam on the Quran revealed to Muhammad, and Buddhism on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama after his enlightenment. Hinduism, older and more decentralized than any of these, doesn't have a single founder, but reveres texts like the Bhagavad Gita as central scripture.

Sacred Geography

• Jerusalem holds sites sacred to Judaism, Christianity, and Islam alike.
• Mecca and its Kaaba are the destination of the Hajj pilgrimage in Islam.
• Amritsar's Golden Temple anchors Sikh worship.

Shared Concepts, Different Frameworks

Buddhism and Hinduism both developed around ideas of rebirth and liberation from it, even though they part ways on what, exactly, is being reborn. Meanwhile, Judaism and Christianity share the Hebrew Bible's Ten Commandments as a common ethical foundation, despite diverging sharply on theology since then.
